Engine bay steam cleaning

  Elise/VX220/R26

Over this winter Ive been getting more and more distressed at the state of the engine bay, with the 2.0l lump shoehorned in there you cant really clean the nooks n crannies so Im thinking of having it steam cleaned in spring ready for the show season.

Has anyone had a car steam cleaned before? is it dodgy with electrics and stuff or will it be ok?

Id avoid it really TBH > you can get handy with some engine degreaser, a wet brush and rag to achieve the same (if not better) effect without endangering your electrics.

as long as its not a pencil high pressure wash, you wrap what you can and dont aim at sensors and its left to dry then its perfectly fine within reason.

BUt you can damage some sensors if not careful

i wouldnt bother steam cleaning if you can help it because water could get in all your electrics(sensors, connectors etc).if you decide to anyway just dont blast water directly at connectors or sensors etc.the valaters at work steam off engines but they are careful about it due to a few coming back because waters got in somewhere.

dont do it, my friend worked at Reno for 4 years and the Valver, Willy, 172 and V6s tend to die if owt goes wrong.
