engine bay to passenger cabin

  Clio 182
I did ask this in the middle of another thread about "wiring an amp" but it'll probably get overlooked,
and as I searched for a few words without sucess,
by me starting a new thread it may be of use to someone else in the future....

I know it used to be important to run power direct from the battery to an amp.
Is that still the case ?
In my current Clio there wasn't anywhere simple to get a cable through from the engine bay to the passenger cabin,
which required a hole drilled below a reservoir which came out in the passenger footwell.

Any advice for a 182 please ?

where the bonnet release grommet is, in the passenger footwell below the fuse box.
There's a guide for it if you look in Articles.

I'm doing the exact same thing tomorrow... prepare yourself for skin-less hands :)
