Engine coming out... What to replace?

The dephaser SP? pulley has started to die. Which makes a lovely noise now..

So I have decided to take the engine out.. So I can give everything a good clean and sort out a few other little jobs in the bay.

So apart from changing the pulley and fitting a new cam belt kit are there any other suggestions on what else could / should / would be done while the engine is out?

The car has just done 88,000 miles..

the clutch (orignal) still feels fine but surely covering 88K must be close to wearing out now? :S

As much as your budget will allow imo.

Mounts, clutch, belts....... Will feel awesome knowing its as fresh as a daisy.

My original plan was:

New pulley

New cam belt kit

New water pump

New clutch

K-tec uprated engine mounts

New ARB / wishbone bushes ?

New track rod ends


Maybe a set of orange SFS coolant hoses (depending how much the above costs!!!)

Then be a tart and paint, clean as much as possible

meeeh.. I do keep thinking that, but at the same time should I just do everything at once?

Knowing my luck I will do the pulley then the clutch will go LOL

clutch is only thing on the list that i'd pull the engine out for. If it's still ok, i'd wait til it at least starts to slip.

I'm with the above mate, too much work just because of the dephaser pulley needing replacing.

I'm off all this week so gimme a shout if you need a hand (as in I stand about and point at things).

Fag! Leave it in and do the pulley, then replace the clutch when it slips!
