engine conversion for a valve?

Hello people,

Right, i drive a 172, but i also have my old valver just sitting on the drive which i want to do something with as a project.

Now these are the things i have come up with, can i have people opinions on which routes would be the best way to go for performs.

firstly i will strip it out and leave only 2 seats in.

1. just recon the standard valve engine and replace everything with lighter parts etc.

2.renault 5 turbo engine transplant

3. i heard about people putting a volvo engine in???????

opinions, options???????? gimmi gimmi gimmi

Depends on how much you wanna spend on looking after the engine and servicing etc. I would say a Renault 5 gtt conversion myself. Volvo's are a bit of a pain due to wiring or something. You could turn your car into a 2.0 16v hybrid tho, probably the easiest option

I would be doing the conversion myself, the idea of a turbo is appealing.

1.How much bhp does the renault 5 put out?
2. how reliable is it?
3. do u know how easy it is to go in?
4. What is a hybrid?
5. what is a vag engine?

vag engine is a vw 20v lump mate,thats what people usually mean,id say drop in a williams engine,coz i used to own a hybrid and value for money u wont get faster,even with just breathing mods 1/4 mile times were 14.4,then stripped went down to 14.1

1. - standard power is 120bhp
2. - not very, if looked after properly should be ok
3. - not sure - easier than a vag engine tho
4. - a valver engine with a 2.0 16v bottom end or complete engine from a Williams
