engine conversion!

Car  mk1 phase 2 hybrid :-)
right i am thinking of making my 16v a hybrid and wanted to no is the williams engine loom the same as a 16v or is it different ?

Most things are the same, you can use a 2.0 bottom end with a valver head it you want. If you are just using a 2.0 bottom end you can also use a megane 2.0 engine as long as its an F7R, though you would have to change the flywheel to a valver/williams one. If you just use a williams engine you can pretty much re-use everything the only things you will need to change are the ECU and possibly the starter motor iirc. A good alternative to a new ECU is just to chip your valver one, there is a guy on williamsclio.co.uk who sells chips for about £30.

so the easiet way would either source a willy engine and ecu or change the bottom end to either a magane or willy one? ie con rods, crank, big ends etc?

When I said to change the bottom end to a megane/willy one I meant to actually fit a megane/williams block to the valver head using all the standard willy/megane internals, i.e. buy a 2.0 block and fit the 1.8 head to it. You can't just use the 2.0 internals in the 1.8 block as the bore is slightly different and also the willy crank would foul the 1.8 block iirc.

Yup you remember correctly.

F7R has this:

(Bulge on bottom of B/E to alow crank movement, also the strengthening veins can be seen in this pic)

ahh i see what ya mean now i did hear some think about the block being different a while back ! so where is the best place to get a whole willy engine? ebay?
