Engine cutting out?!?!?

Basically i was at my dads works trading estate tonight (huge)... and was testing what my car was capable of etc etc, i got to 110 in 4th before i started running out of road so i braked pretty heavily and all of a sudden the car cut out on me...power steering gone and whatever!!! What could have caused this?? Surely its not ment to do this???

has it cut out before? my clio done this for a while, it mas a dirty idle control valve!

Nah never before...my cousin said something about it happening to his and cleaning out the throttle body but wandered if there was anything else people could think of?!?
