Engine getting up to temp really fast.

Not really a fault as the car's fine but recently from cold the temp gauge is
rising to operating temperature in under 5mins, it normally takes at least 10-15mins,
I can't believe the oil can heat up that quickly, any ideas? (ph2 172)

I've read that the thermostat can go wrong on these but the syptoms are usually
a gauge that goes up and done randomly.

The temp gauge is measuring the water temperature, not the oil temp. 5mins for the gauge to get to normal is normal in the summer.

Yer don't have to get yer spanners out-------well this week anyway.

LOL, too late for that i've already had the spanners out this week, battery problems.

If it's got tits or wheels, it will give you a headache and cost you a fortune.
