ENGINE Installation and angle ????

  clio 172
Ive just re-nstalled my engine last night on my own after it sitting in my garage for over a year !

Ive noticed that the engine sits on a angle ? the front of the engine sits higher than the back at a angle

I assume this is correct as the lower engine mount is in position and the upper engine mount is bolted up and i have also got the upper gearbox mount bolted up and bolted up.

I have fitted my vibratechnics upper engine mount i bought of here , i bolted the 4 bolts up and bolted the nut up at the top, the standard mount had a little metal piece which located on the shaft and had two pieces of rubber , but ive not fitted this with the vibratechnics which i assume to be correct ?

You cant really get it wrong by much as there is only a small degree of movement on how the mounts bolt in, but yes it does tilt back slightly in the bay.

Yeah the uprated mount is four holes to the car and just one to the bracket from the engine, the rubber movement stops arent used.

You didn't mention rear gearbox mount which would bring the front of the engine up if not present.

Cheers chip , i thought that was the case with the vibratechnic mount ! Do you know what the nut should be ? I cant find the it so was going to see what we have in work !

Yeah i was thinking that myself that its all lined up and bolted up so it must be correct but just looks in add with the inlet manifold off etc !

I dont have alot of knowledge on these cars and have just re-shelled a 200sx up from scratch as i crashed mine !

Its a 16mm head but I cant remember the thread size off hand sorry.

As DannyR mentions, the dogbone does tip the engine a bit too, but I was kind of assuming you already had that bolted on as well, if not then do so before you judge how the engine sits.

Will this bolt on with the other 3 in place or will i need to lossen some off ?

Should bolt in just fine, although you might want someone to help tip the engine for you as you do it if its really leaning at the moment.

Its probably sitting as it should but im just used to engine sitting perfectly straight and not on a slight tilt :)
