engine mods???

anyone got some good tried and tested mods that i can stick on my trophy. want to get the best out of the engine without spendin silly money!

see i dont mind exhaust induction and chipping but what gains should i look for or whos products should i use. i'd love to get 18hp without spendin over £1000

So would I, but the engine's pretty highly tuned anyway so extracting any significant power gains is going to cost plenty too...

Exhaust, decat, ported, re-mapped ?? wouldn't bother with an induction kit or if you are go ala cup racer with a MK1 172 air box

dont forget spare wheel, mahoosive sub, amp and s**t in boot. Thats if you had all that crap. Makes a noticeable difference.

182/Trophy don't have spare wheels.
Manifold work, decat remap, some sort of deceint induction kit is your best bet for under £1k but 10hp at best. And your starting with 179.

yeah for a thousand pound I would agree with Maz

exhaust and decat - approx £450
manifold matching - £180
remap - approx £300
although I do disagreee with the induction kit - personally I think they are great depending on which you go for - range between £30-£400 the choice is yours! theres too many negative comments on here about induction kits and heat soak etc although these comments may be partially correct there are loads of ways round this - heat shields , good air feeds, sealed kit like maxogen etc

edde how can you say he is starting with 179 - every car is different from the evidence I have seen - Ben at angelworks has had gains of up to 12bhp just from manifold matching although I agree this is not the case on every car but still possible to get more than 10bhp from those mods - I know ali has those mods on his 172 and has seen gains of approx 13-14bhp

completely agree Maz - I could have a carbon bonnet, polished strut brace and still have some money left over probably - would be nice though! I have a hillpower kit which is basically a ramair filter inside a heat shield - Dont have any issues with it - could probably do with a better air feed but overall I like it but then that was about £250 anyway which is still a lot but at least it has some nice shiny bits lol!
