Engine Mounts

Car  '92 172, Lotus Elise
My engine mounts have go (knew that when i bought the car)

Im getting them swapped next weekend, but was wondering exactly what i need.

Do i just need a set of engine mounts (from GSF/ECP) or do i need any other mounts too (like gearbox?)

Hopefully new mounts will also stop me gear stick from moving about so much when accelerating or lifting off

2 proper mounts and a dogbine stabaliser.

If the gearstick is moving, maybe it's just the dogbone? Or do they all have lots of movement?

I'd goto Renault for mounts, though.. personally. (but I have a Hill Power uprated dogbone mount)

The whole engine moves lots, can really feel it jerk when driving (have to be super smooth!)

How much are the mounts from renault? i've got the crane booked for the 17-18th, is this enough time for renault to order the parts..

damn, shoulndt leave things so late! go my passport to do too!

:edit: what exactly is a dogbone mount? :o

Quick price check..

renault want £137 inc vat

ECP want £101 inc vat

GSF don't even do them!

Do these prices seem right? they seem very expensive to me!

this is for all 3

However, having spoken to clarkiev6, this seems correct...

ouch!

I'm getting genuine renault parts :)

Didn't really want to go for the replicas unless they were significantly cheaper

damn lol sounds like that needs doin on my car as well!.My gearstick moves when im in gear and acclearate.

this one moves a lot :(

also, if u accelerate hard, you can feel the engine jerking back.. same when lifting off

I suppose having this problem on a first car teaches you how to drive super smoothly ;)

:edit: i say smoothly.. i have somehow broken one of my ARBs :p

check the mounting plate that the dogbone and gearbox connects to, check its done up FT too, mine was loose and as the bolt holes arn't exactly the same size, it generates quite a lot of movement.

Ive got the same problem on mine 2! cant belive its gonna cost that much 2 repair! y cant it be like an exhaust nd take 2 mins to replace???? lol.
