Engine noise - RSi

I have a 1993 RSi with 118k on it!

Had all the major stuff done, I.e clutch, head gasket, etc.

But now there is a whirring noise coming from one end of the cam as it seems (the belt side). Once its revved it speeds up and seems louder.

Any ideas what this could be? Are there bearings at each end that go as it does sort of sound like a bearing noise.

Had the oil pump done, or it may of been the water pump.

Thing it its really coming from one side of the rocker cover. At the very top I think.

Had the belt done as its had a new head gasket about 400 miles ago. Belt tensioner hmmm, is that near the top.

Im guessing it may go on for ages like it.

the cambelt tensioner is near the top just below the cam pulley at the back. defo check the aux belt etc first though.
