Any recomendations what to do? I have noticed there is a whining noise above 2k.

whining is possibly one of the belt idlers/spinners.

tbh honest mate theres not much chance of getting an accurate diagnoses on here with vague descriptions, take it to a garage.

if the car is still going fine then no its not fucked, but if what your hearing is something that timing belt is spinning round and that breaks then it willl be goosed

Well a good friend of mine who is a mechanic has been around tonight to have a look.

He thinks the cam cover looks very close to the belt and could be rubbing!! So he will be coming back tomorrow to start stripping it down to see what's wrong with it

I'm no tech but hopefully it will be fixed soon.
