Audi TT 225
Hard to describe the sound but it basically sounds like a lumpy diesel patter (sounds like offside). Can barely hear it on acceleration, can hear nothing on idle or when coasting or with clutch depressed, it is however quite noticable and loud when slowing (no throttle in gear) and coming to a stop.
For example if i accelerate through to 3rd or 4th and let it run down to about 10mph (still in gear) it will make a loud pattery throaty diesel type sound getting slower and louder as the speed drops. Any ideas? I realise its not the best description, a friend said it sounded like someone blowing over a bottle.
Oil is fine, performance seems unaffected, it drives as if nothing is wrong but its a rather worrying sound.
