Engine Rattle

I noticed an rattle coming from the engine while driving with my window down the other day.

It seems to be coming from the drivers side of the engine and sounds like something it catching somewhere, it only seems to rattle at about 1,200 RPM though.

Ive had a quick look but cant seem to see anything obvious, anybody got any ideas as to what it could be?

Not wanting to worry you and hope it isnt the same (could be plenty of other things) but that sounds exactly like when my accessory belt tensioner failed. Heard rattle / ticking, sort of one tick per rev of the belt for a while ( could only hear it with window down and sound bouncing off a wall) but was drowned out by the engine above 1500 revs. Noise never got worse but noticed one day the belt although still going round was shreded into several loops.

Needed new tensioner, belt and it damaged the alternator, cost the warranty about £1000.

Hope it isnt anything like that but might be worth getting it checked out.

Guess id better try to get it looked at ASAP, it would happen the weekend im going to Sheffield and back wouldnt it.
