Engine shaking, mount?

Hey I'm getting a lot of vibrations through the steering wheel from about 40mph... It's getting worse, anc when I accelerate hard it feels like the engine is rocking violently, reducing power.

When going about 70/80 the whole inside of the car shakes and it feels very unstable.

Could it be a mount? If so which one and where do I look?

cant help you but was wondering if changing engine mounts is a modification?

if so do people tell the insurance?

I really don't think it will be engine mounts chap.... wouldn't think you will feel that through the steering, normally just a knocking. Does it do it if you put your foot on the clutch at speed and coast?
Most likely to be something steering / suspension / wheel related.

I wouldn't think they would care, but as it makes no difference to the performance, so they shouldn't charge you. May as well tell them to save the possible trouble later....

Quite possibly the drive shafts. When they're on the way out, you often get a really bad vibration through the whole car

Ok thanks, jack I have tried that and it does seem to stop or almost stop shaking/vibrating.

Not the worlds cheapest job no, but would need a professional to diagnose what's wrong before you start worrying.
