engine swap (advice needed)

i have a mk 1 clio rsi and looking for and to put a new engine in due to the fact i need to take my lump out to change the buggered gear box thought i might as well jus put a different one back in ...... was thinin of the 1.8 16v and was wonderin whats involved and what exactly it is i need to do it ..... also heard that certain volvo turbo engines goin in and was wondering whats invloved in that ..... and last of all if its only clio engines that fit in or if engines out other renaults such as lagunas go in as welll ..
please help

You realy need the whole doner car where the engines comming from to make it work what with different fuel pumps and wiring etc.

see to drop a 16v in is it not jus the engine box .... wiring loom and ecu you need?

tbh, its mostly plug and play in an RSi, engine loom plugs into the rest of the cars loom in the relay box, you have an RSi, so as long as the senders work, so with the aux gauges.

yeah the volvo engine is the 1.7 turbo from a 440 or 480 i think, if u wanna turbo thou the 1.4 gt turbo lump will fit and is wayyyy better than the volvo lump, which incedently is made by renault anyway

Personally I would go with a 2.0 16v from a williams rather than the 1.8 16v as from what I've heard there isn't all that much between the RSi and the 1.8.
