Engine swap

  2002 Clio Dynamic

Been thinking of swapping the engine in my 1.4 dynamic for a while now and im just wanting to know if anyone has a rough figure for getting a GTT supplied and fitted,or a 172 engine!

Also which would be best for reliability!

cheers!

£1k fitting for a GTT then you need to find an engine which can be from £500 for a run down car then spend as much s you want rebuilding it.

As for a 172 engine weel bit more possible £1.5k insalation cost the another £500 for an exteral ECU and remap. A 172 engine and box is between £750 and £1500.

Best doing a search though there loads been writen about engine transplants.

As for reliblity a 172 will be better but a well built GTT should be fine. but its an older engine.

depends how much you have to spend

a 172 might be better but it will be a lot more expensive id have thought

  172 cup,s2 rs turbo

you may need a new ecu for the 172 engine swap because the original 172 ecu will have the original vehicles immobiliser code in it which cant be erased.

and gtts can be had pretty cheap, i know of some 1 with a gtt shell, with a fully bb tuning rebuilt engine 850 miles ago, that he is selling for 500 quid and comes with creme leather interior

Cheers, im back thinking about the GTT swap since its a bit cheaper and i would also have the added whooosh of a turbo,as for a budget i was thinking of about £3000-4000 but if i could get it done for less than that it would help me out a bit!

Excellent excuse for a R-Sport one then.

£3 to £4k would be better spent on a 172 or least a 1.6 16V. But then again thats not unique I guess.

Might as well spend the money on a 16V or Williams IMO a better car all round

£3 - £4k will get you a good GTT transplant with some mods to go with it

i bought my donor car for £350 IIRC, had the engine rebuilt and loads of other stuff done
