Engine transplant

  MK1 Mexico, Clio 172
Could you put an intergra type r engine (k20a) in a Clio? I had one of these supercharged and charge cooled in my Elise and it was awesome!

Meh, to me, engine transplants are the fastest and easiest way to lose all of your cash and make a car completely worthless.

There are the odd exceptions, but IMO, this isn't one.

Might as well burn the money this is going to cost. Or give it to me, and I'll spend it.

Nothing wrong with engine transplants if its N/A to Turbo charged for example. This idea is just a waste of time though. You could tune a Clio to 220bhp for all the fitting and hassle it would cost. Supercharging option is available also for the Clio so makes the whole idea a complete no brainer

Would-be fantastic if done, but would be complex and expensive and so I'd be looking at chucking the money at a supercharger or itb kit and cams.

There's tonnes of space in the Clio engine bay once you get rid of all the rubbish. So just depends on where the engine mounts are located on the K20a. I recon it could be done.

K20A is a fantastic engine. I've worked on a few Elise/Exige conversions, a couple of which are SC'd. It's not an easy job and the cheaper kits available are a bit rough around the edges to say the least. 300bhp+ available without opening the engine is very attractive though, and that's reliable too!!
