erm...help

got bored part way through so didnt read it all but st170 have a 172 for breakfast, LMFAO that boy has been on the disco biscuits, the st170is slower FACT on paper and on tarmac, ive lost count of the losers in these warm hatches that ive wasted in the 172 and to say it handles better is laughable as everytime ive carried more speed into and out of bends and roundabout when racing against them

thats just rubbish, the ST170 has no right to be called a Hothatch, Warm hatch of best. Build quality should be better and I quite like the look of them but I was look for a true hot hatch with the performence o match.

WHO CARES!

this in gonna turn into one of those boring topics where people argue over something that already has an answer then 18 pages later they agree to disagree or its locked....

Yawn.......

you love an arguement ben besides i think everyone knows the 172 is quicker anyway so i cant see there being an arguement anyway

its quicker, but then we get people with STs comming on jibbering, arguements are fun, but not when there is an answer and its been done one billions times.

PLUS!!! theres no tech to spam about.

ROFLMAO :D

This from the Renault driver... ;)

When deciding what car to buy I test drove both, Focus was a disapointment. Handling was impressive but it just didnt have the acceleration/power like the Clio.

One of my mates has a st170 and is also not impressed by its straight line/0-60 speed.

  VaVa

Same as Pete... One of my mates (I hate saying that) had both a 172 and a st170 at the same time ( dont ask why- long story). He said that the ST170 didnt even come close to the Clio in terms of performance. Having diven the ST myself I would have to agree with him. However, when it came to crunch, he sold the Clio and kept the ST. Not as fast, but much better build quality and nicer interior. And I would probably agree with that too......

.....But Im still getting me a bit of va va voom!

Antbe, you gotta be kidding me...The Clio isnt even a match for the RunX RSi, never mind the ST170...Straight line, curved line, you name it, the RSi and Ford will eat it. T

he French might be imaginative in the bedroom, but when last did they build a truly innovative car? Or one that is fun to drive? One that can take on the best of British, American, Japanese or German manufacturers?

Mark, the Clio V6 doesnt count, UKs "Country Driver" magazine reckoned it has about enough luggage space for a pair of binoculars and two cucumber sandwiches. It also handles like (to use their own words) "a three legged cow on steroids".

The Alpine was an Alpine, not a Reanult.
The 5 Turbo was a Williams, not a Renault.

Now, look at the BMW 325Ti, and tell me the Clio can compete with it. No ways! The tail light cluster on its own has more style and panache than the whole Clio.

 x 100000000000000000000

i know ford engineers that know the ST170 isnt a 172 beater

its a hi spec focus with a sporty feel....end of.

but the RS......

RS in a straight line will beat the 172 without even breaking sweat

but the screwed up diff that ford put on the RS means that in the twisties it is useless and the 172 will quite simply blow it away

well that is what both myself and the ford mechanic thought when we took them both for a test drive

you should have seen what it was like without it (diff)

i quite like the RS its lovely and twitchy like a fwd tvr

  2005 Audi A3 3.2 Quattro

Crumbs....Id hate to think how "lovely and twitchy" the RS is since the 172 is also quite "lovely and twitchy"
