Errrm, Dis-connecting UCH (Multi Timer Unit) Is It Safe To Do So?

Right, basically i am trying to do the "dutty" mod of when your car unlocks the headlights come on.
To get to the relays i have to take off the multi timer unit but in the haynes manual it says if i do this, the engine will need re-programming and all sorts :S

is this true or is it ok to dis-connect this unit?

nah you'll probably be ok i normally risk it to be honest but sometimes it has been known when its disconnected (that or the ecu) it can all lock up and need the immobiliser recoding
