evo8 fq330 v Clio V6 255

  Clio v6
The car above 2dr/AWD/Hatch.. looks like a typical chav mobile from Sarfend seafront.:dead:

Sadly some people have to start a row in every thread. :(

With regards to resale loses. I paid £20 k for my new V6 and its worth only £19.5 k a year on. :(

Yeah that does look a lot better than the Lancer Evo FQ330's.....
Don't bet on what I will buy though mate, you may loose.... ;)
Still I'm happy with my V6 255 for now thanks.

Simon

LOL..you wont get much for your V6, lad was so disapointed with his v6 this week he traded it in for and EVO (after owning it for 2weeks) and they paid him 16k for a 54plate 8k miles in Black. Nearly half price in less than a year..! Extreme have it for sale at 18k now i think.

Said the EVO is in a different leauge..

Good luck with your next purchase, BTW dont do the Murcelargo thing ;-)

£20,196.00 Brand new last December. I am first registered owner straight from the factory to my door.

I doubt if many people paid full retail price for their new V6.

They are doing so. Not good news for buyers :(

Well at 30% depreciation in the first year theres not much more depreciation to go....

Then again there are not many buyers...

What about a Integra Type R DC5? cheap to buy, alot cheaper to run, handles brilliant and still fast?

or if your doing loads of miles and want comfort but still want a load of grunt then a Megane 225 or Golf GTi

good job as there are only 300 cars in the UK.....we wouldn't want everyone drivin round in one, like they do in EVO's.
Seems like every other car on the road were I live is a Jap turbo car, I crave something different thanks :)

They only made those numbers as no one really wanted it......I think it tells you something if you see quite few EVO's on the road...;-)

Given the high demand for the Clio V6, Renault managed to secure just a few more build slots to satisfy its long list of eagerly awaiting customers. Sadly many of those waiting are now forced to buying used cars. Good news for those selling of course.

So much dross being spoken in this thread.

If the question was being asked on the RS onwers club forum of "should I keep my FQ330 or buy an Escort Cosworth" the answer would be united and loud.... "ESCORT COSWORTH"... because all RS owners stick together and support their brand.

Try asking the same question, only substitute in a Vectra VXR, or Lotus Carlton on MIGWEB or one of the performance vauxhall forums, and you'll get a similar united response.

These people are true enthusiasts. They believe in their cars. They believe in their brand.

I've posted my thoughts on the Mitsu v/s V6 debate somewhere where the argument is more considered and based on facts rather than fiction, so I won't bother repeating myself here.

why not get an astra vxr ?

its about as much performance for the smallest running costs imo + sexy looks and comfort.

a courtneysport remap with no extras return 285bhp ! under £500 !! no awd trans loss on the move and not a complete heffer either v.fast and as torque is also 305lbft < ! diesel style and v high for a petrol. a clio has 148bft and highly tuned 182 has 170/180lbft so you can see how much pace that thing would have.

same story for a Focus ST few tweaks (bit more to pay than the vxr though) and big bhp.

if a fairly heavy 3.2 FWD 147gta ((250bhp/ 221.24lbft)) can 1/4 in 14.3 a 285 + 305lbft astravxr FWD is gonna be into the 13`s fast enough to do 100 around 13.5 secs and 30-70 in around 4 secs + over 165mph top end.

the vxr is your choice

I would stick my balls on a barbeque and poke them with an ice pick to own a V6.....

You guys should feel lucky to be even able to purchase one in your country...

Mitsi and Subaru owners believe in their brand too mate.....I am still supporting a Subaru club and they are decent people who are passionate about their cars.....not spotty a**holes who abuse motors and do donuts in the local Maccy Ds

I do feel these Jap cars are a victim of their own success to a certain extent hence them falling into the wrong hands, getting stolen etc and insurance going up.

Well someone must be selling them given all the "hello just bought a v6" threads I'm seeing.

I'm also looking to buy a second v6 but rarity and me wanting a specific colour I don't stand much chance.

Someone on hear said that the 172 Cup is quicker around a track than a V6........so i'll do a straight swap for my Cup ;)

oh come on mate please talk sense, if you say that then just look at the FQ's for sale on Auto trader, does that mean no one them either...doh.

Doh ... and I thought I'd got a great price on mine brand new for £22k. Then again I suppose they discounted yours because of the colour ;).

Curiously I'm not interested at all in this comparative performance b****cks when it comes to cars ... so anybody who tells "you could get a faster car for the money" simply doesn't get it. If you buy a car purely on figures and graphs then you're missing the whole point! I love driving the Vee fast with the engine screaming behind me. I love driving the Vee slowly to the shops. I love sitting in the Vee in traffic. It has the most character of any car I've ever driven ... and there is literally nothing on the road short of a Gallardo that I'd replace it with at the moment since everything else is boring by comparison with the Vee.

People who want a souless brutally fast turbo'ed car with a computer tweaking everything hundreds of time a second ... then I'm happy for you. For those of you who appreciate that car ownership isn't just about figures ... then I bet you'd love the unique thing that is the Vee :approve:.

PMSL - Gallardo...

Regards to computers buy an EVO RS...no electronics and stir the soul not blow dry it.

You obviously love your car, fair play to ya! So why don't you go and to talk like minded people rather than upsetting us stupid clio v6 owners??:S

amazing - never generated a thread like this before.

fq400s a nightmare with reliability issues. Why pay £48k for a car that sits in garage where for a fraction you can modify up from a 260 to almost the same spec. Thats why they are low £30s now and noone buys them.

just a final word, because I am going to test drive a 255 tomorrow.

just before Xmas Xtreme offered me £17k cash for my fq330. They rang me as they had seen it advertised in TM. I turned it down. Another guy with a 330 was offered the same, both had mileages at just under 27k.

Today I got a price to change from Xtreme against their black v6 255.

Wait for it - £4k. So in 6 weeks, my 8 has lost £2k, assuming the £19k they have the V6 on stands firm. Now thats what i call depreciation.
My 330 is just about perfect with full history, no mods and good ICE. So it may end up being a bit quicker, but at that depreciation rate its going to be worthless in a year with the mileage I do.

Once again. thanks for all the advice.

I'm hoping the prices of evos will fall so i can pickup a bargain. You have to be minted to run one though, perhaps thats the put off for most people - with 4500 mile services/clutches burnout by grease monkeys not covered by warranty/warped discs not covered by warranty etc even 997 carrera s is cheaper to run it needs a service every 2 years.

  FN2 Type R +MK6 Golf
I dont really think there the same type of car TBH.The evo is super fast but like you say loses lots of money. The V6 is a one-off really and looks great...

You see alot of fiesta on the road but it doesnt mean its a good car, be reasoable the V6 was never going to sell well becuase it is catering for such a small market.

As it has been said before you buy the V6 with your heart not with your head

I think the v6 even though an excellent car was overpriced to start off with. If it were £19,000 new i would have got one immediately.

Most people with the enough money to run evos purchase alot more expensive cars like porsche, bmw etc, perhaps this is why their not selling. Its a pretty bad market for evos lately, for example a 400bhp evo 9 gt with 1000 miles went for £22,000 on the lancerregister before christmas.

Even considering the development costs, and the cost of making parts of a very limited edition?

Just look at the Buggati Vyron, its cost VW £million's to design and produce, yet they're selling each one £800k, which seems like a lot, but considering they're making a £5M loss on each one, its bargain basement!

Is it worth £27k? Perhaps not to some people, but that's a very personal choice (hence why everyone's getting so tetchy in this thread!)

My 2 pennies worth - ive owned 2 Clio V6's and sold em both within 6 month of each other ( one i bought cheap to sell on to make a profit ) . There underpowered and handle terribly. This is my personal opinion and im sure other V6 owners will disagree. The depreciation of the V6 is very high - In saying that though they are a fantastic looking car and attract attention everywere you go, but thats not what a sports car is intended to do - personally mate i would look for something else.

  Clio 172 mk2
The image of the Evolution/Subaru breed is going through a bad time hence the prices falling dramatically.....also ludicrously expensive to run.
