well the only problem i see with that is if you stop the bottom of the engine moving, then the top of the engine will move more causing the upper mounts to wear (have you ever seen a 172 bouncing off the limiter on a rolling road??? you'll see what i mean!!)
yeah, we've worn away the heat wrap at that exact point on our 182 manifold (caveman yoz destroyed those 2 engine mounts after FCS, they were brand new the week before!!)
Well in the first week i had it the top mount broke taking the subframe mount with it. So they are new and the other mounts were taken off and checked and found to be in good condition. Then i lowered it-40mm on apex springs. The banging started after that. Another mount might have given up in the time being but i don't know.
