Exhaust Emission Light

mine came on this afternoon during a massive drive. have got a 200cpsi sports cat installed (on a 1.2)

have just been researching this and im getting more and more confused. am i right in thinking that the second sensor for the lambda has to have the wiring removed? and then i just have to take it to renault to get them to clear the fault?

is it simply a matter of cutting the wiring off the second sensor and then taping it up ?

if the car is designed to run with the 2nd lambda sensor, if it reads a wrong readin then it will bring the light on, eg if you don't fit it, but if you disconnect it, you will store a fault any way as it will read open circuit! i don't see how you could get away without running a 2nd lambda sensor.

no it will run with no light as long as the 2nd lambda is out but plugged in, so u just cable tie it under the car, as then it will read fresh air and the car will think its cat is doing a very good job, to fill the second hole in the cat, but a bolt with the same thread with a cork washercust it down to size and bolt in

got the same problem on my 172 spoke to charlie@prospeed and he said there is no way of knocking the light off unless you take the bulb out. If you unplug the second sensor it will read as a fault there is no way around it.

b****cks. not sure what to do now. renault want 48+vat to turn the light off. annoys the crap out of me by being on, but dont want to turn the light off and then find it comes back on again 2 months down the line.

dont waste your money it will come on there is no doubt about ive had mine done twice. Either pull out the bulb or put up with it.

the light wil go outif the second sensor is out! i had 3 decat on clios and it only comes on if the second sensor is in

ben_P will have a go and see what happens. have arranged to have a local garage remove the light, and will then take it to my exhaust centre to remove the sensor.

is bolt the best way to do it?

yer, its the only way to do it, well you could weld it up, but it would be runied, for the sake of a £1 bolt jsut pop it in, it will work, the light may stay on for a bit for a bit and then it will go!

was thinking: if i disconnected the battery and left it, would the light come back on when it restarted? i.e. does it get stored in the memory somewhere lol

it will clear if u take the 2nd sensor out and then disconnect the batt for a hour then re start n ....gone!

2nd sensor is out on mine & the light is on...
i like the light.. poor little thing.. nice warm orange glow to it...
