Exhaust Gas Monitor Warning Light !!!

  Clio 182 + Recaros
Went for a spin first thing this morning and hey presto the Exhaust Gas Monitor Warning light apears.

Is this a known or common fault with 182's?

Obviously will be phoning a Stealer tomoroow morning first thing. Any advice would be much appreciated.

90% of the time is the 2nd llambda, which is after the CAT. Just put a new one in and it will reset itself. I got one for £10 at a scrapyard.

Thanks for the replies.

Phoned the stealer yesterday. They suggested either a llambda sensor or a coil pack problem. However, the car is running perfectly apart from the warning light so hopefully its the former which dare I say .. won't be difficult to rectify.

Mine was crap fuel, do you use supermarket specials?

If so, get some V Power/Ultimate in there - run that tank through it then fill up with V Power/Ultimate again.

Still probably cheaper than a clip test LOL

I am using Ultimate or V Power. I don't use supermarket specials for that reason.

i've got de-cat on my 182 and 7 months after fitting it the toxic light came on. I've just got an OBD 2 fault code reader which turns the light off. oonly took couple of minutes to do it. about £39 delivered

Mines came on and wouldn't go away. The car still ran fine.

I had ecu reset to fix a different fault and its went away and a week later its still not returned.

I am awaiting my fault reader off ebay so I can do this myself in future.

It doesn't do anything to the car having it on hence you did't have a problem.

Thanks for the info. At least I am now fully armed with the facts for my visit to the stealer.

Given that I have no misfires, I'll drive the car normally in the meantime.:approve:

will it get through the mot with that light on?
my carbon cannister thingy is ticking, can that make the light come on?
