Exhaust hissing and engine ticking

My exhaust is hissing when idle, think its coming from just inform of the back wheels.. Anyone had this before on a 200? Also engine making a ticking noise when idle.. Done it since I got it a week ago so don't n know any different!

Exhaust is probably leaking.

Does the tapping/ticking noise go away once the engine is warmed up?

Thought that might be the case.

No tapping noise still there when warmed up.

I wouldn't worry too much about the tappety noise TBH. As long as the oil level is sufficient. It's probably the tappets working away. Remember, these aren't quiet engines.

​But if you are really concerned about it, take the car to your nearest RS specialist. Where are you located?

Aberdeen but bought the car in glasgow.. going to try to book it in at the dealer next week and go down to get new wheel arch liners (as they seem to be broken), get them to sort the exhaust and driver window fault. Not the best start to the 200 ownership but still love it!

not checked the oil level yet.. just assumed it was ok since the 'correct oil' message comes on when you start the car

the hissing noise is the carbon canister - normal

the ticking is the cambelt tensioner whacking off its stop, common problem that Renault won't do f**k all about, requires a new cambelt kit (you can just have the tensioner adjusted, but again Renault will do f**k all about it)

The reason i know is because i discovered the issue along with Gates uk who make the belt kits for Renault LOL, even Gates were surprised hen i told them so they sent an engineer out who confirmed it

I had this on my 200, as Fred said, had to get new cambelt and tensioner to cure it.

Just had a look - same noise!

Its going in on Monday with a small list of issues including this.. Hopefully be all sorted next week!
