Exhaust Noise

Just had my auxillary belt tensioner replaced (£560 ouch!) and now my exhaust sounds like a beast. If only I had intended this, it's actually a standard exhaust, though it's not from Renault.

Noise is doing my head in, it's no good for long journeys as it's deafening, not sweet like a proper performance exhaust. My suspicion is that the back box on the exhaust on it is not good enough for the cars output! Is my only choice to get an official renault sport cat back system fitted to the car and lose more money to them? Well or put up with it!

No a place down near me called auto parts (but yes probably as good as kwik s**t....(ASHAMED!! )

you already replied for me the last time as well drRollo so thanks, think i need to just bite the bullet and return to renault! There goes the summer holiday, lesson learned!

I imagine that when they've had the engine mount off and jacked the engine up and down to get to the tensioner they haven't been very careful and its blowing out the manifold to cat joint or another joint. Or the exhausts been rusted somewhere and the movement has broken it.
