Exhaust Piping Size

  White Sti Hatch
Went to get priced up for a powerflow exhaust friday past and noticed the piping from front to back was tiny im no expert in diamiter sizes but must have only been just over 20mm ne way what im wainting to know is the guy was saying theyll replace it with 3 8th tubing (im not old enough to know what size that is !) is this the same size or larger than the existing and is it wise to up the size at all or have renault did it to increase back pressure ???

M

mini-valver

3 8th will be the thickness mate, even that sounds to thick though!

20mm, lol! It'll be bigger than that! 2cm's is nothing...

Its a 1.6....im no good with guessing sizes at all lol it wasnt big at all ill tell you that.....!!!!

Id build an exhaust for that size engine out of 2" with mandrel bends...

2.5" is too big on a 1.6 and will be more restrictive than 2" as the low and high pressure pulses are lost in the system and the gas has to push its way out

BUT

Powerflow do go down to 1 3/4" and may of made it out of that.....

Hope this helps

Cheers
