I have just recieved a nice new exhaust for the car so while it's off I may aswell give it a going over and seal it. So which sealant/wax or range of protection is best to go for?
If the exhaust is stainless steel then no need to seal it. Whatever you use has to be heat resistant as well. If its mild steel then get an exhaust paint from somewhere like Demon Tweeks
If youre going to do your wheels then by all means spare some C5 for the exhaust.
Personally I wouldnt bother atall, Id simply buy some "light" metal polish and polish it up every so often.
I maintain a new F10 M5 and I treated the tips to C5 when I did the initial detail. Lasted about 2 weeks. Now I just use brilliant metal polish to tart up the tips.
Same with my GT exhausts, tried using C5, lasted about 4 weeks on mine. Now I do the same with the M5, just polish with a light metal polish every so often to remove the crud.
Ive used autosol - Its brilliant. Ideal for a quick polish plus its in a tube so minimal mess. Put it on a microfibre cloth and rub. Job done.
So is Mercury (Ask JD I think he uses it) although thats in a tub.
After my brilliant metal polish has been used I think ill go back to autosol. Id sooner have mercury but dont like the idea of having a tin over a tube.
