exhaust sounds

ive got a standard exhaust on the 172 anyone notice that when the engine is switched off after a little run you can hear a tinging sound coming from the exhaust (sounds like metal cooling) i know what your going to say "it is metal cooling" but it sometimes happens whenthe car is running plus ive never owned a car that does this.

i had an R5 turbo a couple of years ago and that didnt do it, but made every other fcuking noise on the planet, so nothing to worry about then?

also forgot to mention, does anyone get a knocking sound coming from the exhaust when in high revs in first and second as if its banging against the chassis, it happens everytime i rag it in first and second??

Sounds like the 4 K rattle

4k rattle only happens when the engine is running, not when turned off

it is nothing to worry about, it is just the catalytic converter cooling down

which is probably why your R5GTT never done it

1) 4k rattle

2) Cat

3) cooling/expanding

4) renos sh*te build quality

5) summat Ive forgot

6) wonder what im having for tea

can i just note that its not just renos that have this rattle

all of the above cars owned my my mates, all have this same rattle

the only one that doesnt is my mates calibra, but he has no cat on it

Mine does it to, sounds like tubular bells
