Exhaust split... Quoted £600 for repair. Help!

  2004 Clio 182
Hi everyone

Had my 05 reg Clio 182 for almost 3 months now, 59k on the clock. Got it MOT'd just over a month ago. During the MOT i was charged £90 for some welding on my exhaust which had apparently had some kind of clamp put on it on a previous repair.

Over the last week my car was sounding louder, and yesterday morning on the way back from Asda it suddenly sounded like a perticularly loud tank. I slowly drove it back to my girlfriends house and upon inspection the exhaust had split again, losing its previously installed clamp.

I called out the AA as I needed to get back home to brighton that evening, The AA man did a temporary bodge job to get me home but advised I go to a garage today, After work I popped by KwikFit for a quote which was the following -

Back Box - £456.23
Eco Exhaust Disposal - £1.75
Clio 182 Centre - £142.36
Total Price Inc VAT - £600.34

I know a 182 exhaust is a tad more specialist than a regular cars, but this seems a bit steep to me. From the pictures below, do you think it is worth persuing a repair? or a replace the whole exhaust? Also, Im quite new to the Brighton area, does anyone know any good garages around Brighton / East Sussex where I am not gonna get ripped off?

Any advice would really be appreciated!

They are silly money, aftermarket is pretty much only way.

a) second hand exhaust. Get hunting through the classified on here now lol.
b) aftermarket system in full SS will cost way less than £600 and be better quality.

 £90 for that welding? Up here in the NorthWest, there's some chaPs who would have done a better job! For less! (see what I did?)

Was going to include a link for an RS192 and then the giraffe beat me to it :D

That welding is totally unacceptable for a garage!

I would get a nice Custom Exhaust System that will cost abt #400 and be in stainless

Thanks guys. Im definitly interested with that RS192 system, seems a better bet than todays quote. If I bought that and took it to a garage, how much would you expect to pay for someone to fit it? Just so I know roughly what to expect

Cheers
