Expected Clio Lifespan

  182 Trophy
Hi, I've got a Clio Tophy and I've had it from new. I absolutely love it and it's been fully serviced according to manufacturer specifications. It's had the Sachs damper rebuild too. It's got 49,000 miles on it.

Does any have any experience of how long in age or miles a 182 or Trophy will last before wearing out or suffering a major failure.

Take a look at some Ph1's that are still kicking about, Someone on here has a trophy with over 140K on the clock still going strong.

I wouldnt worry about it to much. Just stick to what you are doing which is looking after it well, it all help in the long run.

Reassuring stuff. Cam belt and Aux belt were done last year so ( fingers crossed ) it should just be standard servicing for a few years.

Like everything else it's down to the owner - even some with high mileage are in better nick than new ones lol

There are still some Mk1 Clio's running about too :) makes you feel happy the Clio is actually "reliable" when it's looked after.
Forget to wash it one Sunday......OH NO! She'll start huffing and throw silly electrical problems at you or break something when you drive to the shop

Overall - I'll be keeping mine for another few years :approve:

I've found with the 4 Clios I've owned now is that they only get pricey around 70,000, then once you sort those issues they'll be fine again for ages.

It will last as long as u want it too. My Caterham is 32 years old granted the milage isn't high (53k) but just replace things as they need doing. It be fine.

Just keep it maintained well, driven properly and it will last a life time ;)

You'll be fine for a while yet.

Sir_Dave trophy is on 172k and still runs well, my mk2 172 is now on 135k and pulls better then it did when I bought it on 45k!

Noticed how people are going on about the engine? Purely because that is the only well screwed together bit about a RenaultSport Clio.

The engine will run forever, its the rest of the car that is the worry.

See post #7 lol

As I was once told before getting the 172 "the RS Clio engines are bulletproof - just a pity about the electrics" sometimes I see perfect examles of it

Have done about 6k miles in it since i bought it 12 months ago, 90% of which have been on track!!

Pulls far stronger than the last T on 55k btw.

  53 Clio's & counting
in 140k, all mine had was service items (services, front discs and pads)Front and rear shocks and springsone driveshaftone idle control valveone set of HT leads.Thats it, still on original gearbox, clutch, even with 195bhp and 7500 rpm it was spot on :)Oh, although at the end of their life, it was still on the original discs too!No electrical issues, no bodywork issues - in fact the 50,000 odd miles I did in that it was the most reliable car iv had!
