Extreme Clio Mk1 Stripage *Project*

My car started its life as a MK1 Ph1 1.2 Clio
:-) I have no idea what my goal is.
Atm i'm just sorting the shell out making sure its 100% rust free :-) also interior going get some paint and engine bay :-)



Todays Work.

Interior Stripped out. (foot Rest Removed) ( Bit of the Passenger side Rear quator cut)

Started to use a hot air gun and a Scraper to get the tar out but then found a easyier and more fun way :-)

Todays work. (Removing Fuel tank and rear axel ready for new tank and a refurbd axel.)

Also Stripped the paint from inside to see if theres any rust.

I'm very please with how good condition this shell really is theres no Major rust. nothing that will not just sandblast off :-)

But I do want the valver panels on it.

Do you know if a valver PAS steering column fits a 1.2 manual steering rack?

I have no idea why this car is in such a good state. Arches have no signs of rust or any rust any where near them :-D

I will take a picture of the jacking points lol there even Mint no rust on them what so ever lol (rare)/



Point8 I'm not to sure if the collunm from the PAS valver will fit the 1.2 rack
Whats the diffrence between the to colliumns isn't it just the valvers a bit longer ?

Looks like a good project and you seem making a thorough job of what you're doing. I thought our sehell was pretty good but it sounds like got a minter there. Keep us update

Today didnt really do nothing and have no pictures :-(

All i did was Used the air compressor and blow all the dirt off
then washed the whole shell with a jet wash then blow it all dry :-)
i bet i got about 30 Kg's of dirt from the underside of the car and inside the rear 3/8's

Well :-) Picking up a F7P with 39k on the clock for really cheap tomorrow.
so couldnt really say no to it :-) It will go in it for the mean while.
after about a year i will prob update to some thing else ;-)
Or even another project.

I've got an F7P head with cams and pulleys which you can have for £50 if your interested. :)
Based 3 miles from silverstone. Dunno how far that would be from you.

Nice project. NA tuning is generally pretty expensive stuff, but it could be farkin cool for this car.

took a total of 20 mins to remove all sound deading from the car :-)
Lucky it was a Ph1 so not that much to remove :-)

Ok No idea why i did this but i got very bored to night and had my Dials sitting next to me. so i did a bit of weight loss to the dials.
No idea what they weighed standard (some one can weigh theres lol)
but mine now weight 0.6 Kg :-)

Also Lighten'd up the Dashboard wiring loom / Fuse box now the car only has 8 fuses ;)

Before i get a fiberglass bonnet i thought i would see how much weight i can loss of the standard bonnet.

It now weights nothing lol pretty much as light as i can get it :-)

But saying that it still fits the car perfect ;) :-) Now sure if i'm going keep this or get a fiberglass one.

Indeed Fitted the Pins to day Just to make sure every thing fits in nicely :-)

Will keep this bonnet untill fiberglass one but i'm sure the fiberglass can't weigh that much less. then a single skin bonnet.

While My Car is just a bare shell i was thinking if or if not to paint it. and if so what colour

my plan was a Matt Black Interior with a White Roll cage.

Matt Black Engine bay.

But don't no if to paint the How car Matt Black or keep it white ??

Any ideas :-)

Trimmed up the inner arches a bit ( Less weight ;) ) And they have no need to be there

Sanded the rear arches to see if there was any rust at all near them :-) (also ready for some new paint.

started to apply the paint remove. applying this before sand blasting i think makes it so much easier to stip paint. ready for new paint.
