Finding Dad is a long way from the end iirc or it feels that way then you do all of the side quests aswell lol. Yes as long as you don't do the final mission you can do the quests at any time.

It's probably only about 1/3 to 1/2 through the main quest....to put it into perspective I found him about 50 hours ago on my file and still not finished, but I am trying to get 100% on it though.

The bit that took me a while was getting into Paradise Falls and using the mesmetron, then breaking the kids out without killing the people in the camp.

In hindsight I would probably have just killed them...

Where the hell are 100 Steel Ingots in the Steelyard???

I have found 54 and I have looked everywhere. Even got that big pile at the very top of that tower thingy.

I have to admit, I got a few of those ingots. Was rewarded quite badly by the guy in charge, too. Meh.

I did wonder why I was climbing my way to the top of that tower. I took the quick route back down, too, along the pipe! lol

I just bought them all. I had so much money that I couldn't spend on anything. Money becomes useless after a few hours.

Except for repairingi items yes it is!

Although most the repairers are pretty crap, apparently you can invest in some by Cantebury Commons and they can get better at it.

Having said that I still only have about 3000 caps now!

I think I have over 10k caps.

You also get any items/weapons you take with you on the new DLC back at the end of it. So dont just go and get rid of it all or store it thinking you wont see it again if you take it.

If you take in an ally Scutch will they have all their stuff removed? Palladin is armed to the tooth! I barely have to bother with fighting myself these days!

You cant take in allies. Then go back to wherever they came from. Fawkes on mine went back to the Museum of History, to wait on me.

There's a massive pile at the top of the tower, as well as deep inside the supply depot. The steelyard has around 30 outside, too.

I dont know, for sure. But I'm 95% certain that what they have on will remain on them until they die.

I bought this game on Saturday so am just starting out... my first issue is using up ammo way too quickly and then being able to find anymore!

^ I just kept using the Baseball Bat tbh, so as to stock up on Ammo when I really need it.

Also what I do as not to keep using/spending money on Stimpak's - I just try and use a bed at Arefu.

Lol - we've all been there. Counting 10mm pistol rounds in single figures and using highly valuable (initially) grenades in order to fend off those pursuing you.

As the1 says - try going in for the melee attacks for a while. Takes a bit of practice, but you can be really effective early on - especially with the Super Sledge. :)

Biggest threat I had in the early stages were the mirelurks. Tough feckers that need rounds to the face to do any real damage.

Yeah Mirelurks and Yao Guais early on are tough as. Mutants can also be tough. I remember hiding behind cover, ducking out and taking about 20 shots with my hunting rifle to take down a standard mutant.

As you go on though no enemies really pose much of a threat, only perhaps a Enclave squad backed up with Sentry Bots. Even then though still trivial, I haven't died for fricking ages!

VATs...it was just next to useless from long range, and close up I was getting pummelled at the start!

Also WTF is the BB gun even in the game for, that actually is useless!

It was one of the items you could pick up from the original Wasteland game of 1988/89.

As Fallout was made by Interplay and represented the 'unofficial' sequel to Wasteland, it seems that Bethesda saw fit to add a few references to the game that started it all, in Fallout 3.

If you want - trawl back through the posts in this thread. I made a g33k post of the things I had found so far that referred back to Wasteland in one way or another. ;)
