False floor

I decided today that i need to put a false floor in on as i have removed the rear seats and i want to hide the wires from my amp in the boot and basically make the rear look more OEM.

How do i go about making one? Feel like a little project for a sunny afternoon

A jigsaw, some MDF, a newspaper (template), and some carpet. Maybe some staples and glue.

Carpet right, get a nice patterned number. Or alternatively I think sextons and maplins sell it.

Use the boot carpet as a template for one half. Once I'd fitted the MDF I covered it in Acoustic carpet and stuck it on with spray adhesive.

Looks good once it's finished IMO,

When you're cutting the MDF, deliberately cut it to big and keep nibbling bits off it till it sits nice and tight. I also drilled two holes through it and bolted it down to the holes left by Isofix bar.

Thats a good idea. Was wondering how to fix it down. Although, wont i have to bolts showing? Unless i paint them.

You could countersink them in to the floor and paint them? I've got silver bolt heads showing in mine but I wasn't overly fussed by them.

Is it going to be a permanent floor or are you going to make it so you can remove it easily, i.e for the spare wheel? If not you could fit the floor, counter sink the bolts in to the floor and carpet over them.

Im thinking of removing the spare wheel, but undecided. Thinking i may just Have it loosly fitted with velcro for a while.

Oh and also im going to relocate my amp? At the moment i have it covered by a hoody so no pikey see's it and tries to nick it. Going to put it under the front seat

If you fit the floor tightly enough, it should be ok without the bolts to be honest. I've got 6"x9"s cut in to my floor and have one piece of it sitting in fairly loosely so I can still have access to the spare wheel.

I dont want any of it on show though, dont want someone breaking in. Hopefully i wont need bolts but if i do its not going to be a problem. Wish my day off was sooner now lol

You'd have to make sure it's pulled over really tightly doing it that way though. I found the spray adhesive much easier.
