Any alternative sites for 520x90mm front plates? Dont really fancy paying £21 for one front number plate.

I'd also be interested in this. Looking to get a 3/4 front plate but refusing to pay over £20!

I'm currently messaging Ebay sellers asking if they're able to do custom sizes and how much it'll be. I'll get back to you and post on here.

Most markets have number plate makers. Granted, they're usually for "pl4yboy bunni" for your bedroom wall, but I know Kempton Park near me used to do them for cars too.

I think the problem is more that they use standard plate sizes, and dont tend to have the cut down 520x90mm ones. Is it possible to cut down a standard sized plate without cracking any of the plastic? Have access to band saws.

Well i've had a reply from one supplier stating that lots of people do ask about 520x90 sized plates, and that they will start to look into making them and let me know. Still looking for current suppliers now.

I have been in contact with an ebayer who is able to do the plates for £19 if this is of interest to anyone? I'm still trying to find it cheaper as this isn't much different to fancyplates.

Hardly worth the £2 saving really. Fancy plates quality is very good. This other guy is untried. I take it you told him that fancy plates charge £21? That's where he's got his price from. It probably costs them £5 if that to do it

Yeah exactly, not worth it! Would rather go through fancyplates with cliosport discount. I didn't tell them fancyplates prices no, but they told me that they do get requests for plates from astra owners for the same size and that they cut down the standard size plates for a charge of £7.50 which seems expensive.

Well i've just been talking to someone from "proplates.co.uk" who is going to have a word with his manager tomorrow in regards to pricing for the smaller plates. Am I right in thinking people are wanting them between £10-15 posted? Is this what they used to be with fancyplates?

A guy I used to work with used to get sets (I'm sure it was front and rear) for £14. I'll ask where from and if they do custom sizes if people want?
Sounds good! I know on ebay for a set of standard front and rear it's only £12 posted! Amazing what's charged for 20mm off.

ive been using the cheap ebay seller for a while but I cant find double sided sticky pads that are strong enough to keep them on for long enough. The fancy plates ones are like nails when on lol!! so ive been back to fancy plates!

I ordered the heavy duty weather resistant velcro ones off ebay for about £4. Don't know how they'll hold up yet though!

Again, Sorry for self bumping but i'm just updating as I get updates! I have spoken to another company now, who may be willing to make up the plates depending on what sort of demand there is. He would have to order in 20 plates for a starting point but he does have over 50,000 feedback on ebay so that's promising for quality/reliability etc. No price yet, just waiting on a response.

I have spoken to Proplates.co.uk again and they are going to get plates custom sized to that of 520x85. They preferred this over 520x90/84 as they get requests for 520x85 from other car owners so feel there will be more demand.
They have told me that the plates will be of the higher quality acrylic at the price of around £11+ P&p (2.50).
It'll take a few days for stock to show on their system, and they will still have to be ordered as a special order via email to enquiries@proplates.co.uk.

They also do standard rear plates at the price of 9.99.

Hope this will be a suitable alternative to fancyplates for people as the price seems much more reasonable!

So what i need to do if i want one front one from them? just email them and state number plate size ie 520x85 and the number plate?
I believe so yeah. I think they're going to show the plates as stock on their website in the future though as a selection in the builder but in the time being you have to email them.

I use DMB graphics for mine, theyre around £15, but ive been buying a new rear plate with them and they are £23.95 for both delivered.

Quality is great,

They dont advertise them on the website,
I usually email them telling them my requirements and then they email back telling how to order

I got this reply too, then by stating it was just for shows he told me that he knew people kept them on the cars anyway and requested to see the V5 before actually going further so I didn't bother. Seemed to be it was 23.95 for one plate too.
Just waiting now for proplates to order their plates in and I'll get back to you when I receive it.

I have fancyplates plates on my 182 just now and have just ordered new ones again because I've now got a private reg.

Would've been nice to have come across this before I just spent £32.50 on plates. Will be interesting to see what sort of deal can be made on these.

Well when the quality of these plates is seen would there be a way to make this thread more visible so that people would be able make their choice a bit better with an alternative?
@LCJK123 Try ringing up fancyplates and telling them you're a cliosport member, should refund you some money back (10% i believe).

I don't know what plate I have on front but I do like the stock sized font over the smaller font. I do wonder if it has been trimmed.

The cut however does look pretty decent to whoever has made them. However, the plate is beginning to go a little yellow and going by the mods on the car I reckon they've only been on a year or 2 tops ; the car was stock prior to the last owner buying it in 2015.

I just got another reply from ProPlates.co.uk who have the smaller 820x85 number plates in stock. The price for these are £10.99 + Postage (£2.50). I have placed an order for both front and rear number plates which comes to £20.98 + postage for the set.

I hold no connection to this website by the way! Just a much cheaper alternative to Fancyplates. I have been told that the plate material used is also a higher quality acrylic than usually used but I will wait for them to arrive in the post and post pictures when they do come. To order it's just over Email to the address above with all the details required.

The plate size they sourced is 520 x 85. True 3/4 is 320 x 85 I think but imho looks stupid on clios
