FAO ALL clio V6 owners

Hi Guys.

I drive a Civic Type r and am very happy with my new purchase. However, in about 6/9 months time I will be looking to swap for a clio V6, the MK11 if possible. Just wanted all V6 owners views on prices and availibility once sept 2005 (this year) has elapsed. I have been told that this is when production ends for the V6. Im sure that within years to come this car will be very sought after, but what do people think will happen to their prices after production. Does anyone forsee an immediate rise in price, as they will no longer be available? How many can we expect to be in the UK by the end of production, particulary for the MK11? 300 ?????

I guess Im worried that I will never have the chance to own one, but a quick check on autotrader shows that they are widely available second hand?

Sorry if this thread is boring and repetative, I guess I find the car market misleading and unpredictable, so anyone with views on availabilty of this car after production, would be much appreciated.

  Mk2 Clio V6 / 996 C4S

September eh mate. Thats when mine will be going. Ill put you on my buddy list.:)

I dont think therell be a raise in price, it would be good for current owners. But I dont think it will happen.

I think in September you could get a good Mk2 for 17-18k easily. Thats what Im planning my finances on anyway.

I think there are already 300+ Mk2s in the UK. Cant see prices rising to be honest, but if the Mk1s are anything to go by theyll become increasingly rare as cars get written off (seem to see loads of destroyed V6s at the moment).

What about mk1s? As there are less than mk2 surely they will become even more of a collectors item?

Just got to compare them to the williams!

who knows what will happen.

id like to think it will go the same way as the escort cossie, in that prices will hold at a certain value, atleast for a while.

never mind that, if you want one get one, whatever model you go for you WILL love it more than any other car youve owned, amazing cars!

Agree... if anyone wants one should just get one.. To be honest Im not bothered about money thing. Always lose it on cars some more than others.

However like the cossie thing I think the V6 will hold its value to a certain point. And even if not I will be glad to think I own a model that dont have many about. Makes it that more special!

i personally dont think they will hold the value, the mk1s can be got now for between 10-15k, so the mk2s will go the same way

Mk1 became more affordable because there was a Mk2. There wont be a Mk3.

lol, and you know this how ???, i still think they will drop to aprox 12k-15k in just over a years time (all in my opinion, and not at all meant to piss anyone off)
oh and theres bound to be a special limited edition (or two), before they stop making them:p

A mk3 V6 would certainly have an impact on mk1 & 2 prices (mk2 more so Id guess!) but as it currently stands, with no new model in the pipeline, prices will fall slowly. As with any popular sports car, its not going to drop like a stone - whether some of us want them to or not!

  3.0ltr V6

I know that I will loose alot of money in the 10months Ive had my Mk1 V6. I bought it in April last year for 20K and selling it at the moment asking 14.5K. I do agree this fall in price is because of the Mk2 but im still going for one. They are absolutely amazing cars. I didnt buy mine for the money and not looking at the money side when I get a Mk2 cos its the car im interested in. Anyone who has one will know what I mean!

seriously tho, who buys a renault for good depriciation value, if we worried about what we could loose we would never buy anything else again, just buy and enjoy

well said, totally agree.

If I keep my V6 for 25 years though I am sure it will increase in price as it reaches Classic status....lol ;-)
