FAO peeps with Mk2 172 (preferably a 2001

Has your alarm got any sensors in the car that you can see?

Or any giveaways that its alarmed??

Mine is supposed to have an alarm but I cant set it off and cant see any sensors, am really struggling

Mine is a 2002 02 MKII 172 and it has the same sensors in the car on the door pillars as the 182 I test drove so it must be the Renault alarm even tho mine was an import.

It has one flashing red light by the side of the gear stick.

how come my dads got 3 ??

the one by the gear stick, one where the dials are & another one (cant remember where it is)

nov 2002 (52) uk car.

  172, Tiguan

the light on the dash binacle is the imoboliser light

the light on the dashboard says the car is locked

the light next to the gearstick is for the alarm

sweet as,

cheers for that, i thought 3 lights was over kill thuogh

(before i knew what they were all for)

Probably an import mate. The alarm is fitted by the renault dealer when the car arrives in th uk. If its an import you have to pay for the alarm to be fitted. If theres no LED on the center console or dash then it probably not got an alarm. It will still have the factory transponder imoboliser though.

  7.6cc :D

Mines a 2001 mk2, i have two sensors on either door pillar, plus a tiny weeny keypad (?) but mines an import aswell.

Its not an import. Been in touch with Renault, and the garage it was originally bought from.

They reckon the owner mustve ordered it without an alarm for some reason

What are the signs that a car is an import then?? Is there any other differences? Does it matter if its an import??

heres goes..... deep breath

"no alarm, no AA roadside assistance, no window etching, sometimes no mats or boot net... and thats about it apart from the 3 grand in yer back pocket!!!!"

the import thing is only a problem if its from a country outside the EU, somehting to do with the warrenty.. most of the import broker cars have come straihgt from the factory with 3 year warrentys!!

mines an import from france. I got mats and a boot net. I got a laserline cat 1 alarm fitted by the dealer, it has two sensors on the door pillars and an LED on the recoding socket and is integrated into the key remote locking.
