right iv had the old knocking under acceleration on my ph-quick so i have replaced all the engine mounts, and although it is better,if i launch the car hard or change gear quick, even if im accerating over uneaven ground,it still knocks, also the engine feels like it is moving around alot even though iv fitted new mounts? all the mounts are genuine from renault, apart from the dog bone mount which is an uprated hill power item, any ideas whats still causing my knocking guys? iv adjusted the o/s top engine mount (ie pushed it bk and done the bols up) but that hasnt helped

this is really causing me frustration now because it knocks if you come on and off throttle in traffic so im at the end of my teather!

lol oh the joys of sport ownership. I did make mine better as my gearbox mount was loose, but there is a knocking sound there somewhere.

thats my thought at the moment mate,im thinking that as it does the creak when turning on the spot thing that it could be maybe worn suspension compnents causing some movement? im trying to see the link with engine movement though

try this, it should work

jack the car up and secure it.
drop the front bolt of the new dog bone mount. (engine side)
see the black bracket attached to the gear box?
slacken the top bolt to finger tight its 13mm
then using a screwdriver or something to pivet the bottom of the black bracket forward to wards the front of the car (so the top of it leans to the back of the car)
it will only move 5mm or so should look like this \ lol.. keep pushing hard and tighten up the top nut nice and tight.
now with some force or a friend to bar the engine so you can line up the dog bone mount then re bolt that up.

THEN THIS

remove the engine cover.
undo the 4 bolts on the left hand mount
get a bar(big one)
jam it behind the back of the mount and rest it against the strut piller
****mind the AC pipes**** do not rest it against them
push the bar towars the rear of the car (moving the engine forward to the front bumper as far as it will possibly go)
nip all four bolts up nice and tight

JOB DONE!!

Will someone please make this a sticky! i have wrote it a million trillion times

make sure you pull the engine forward, to the front bumper . ( i noticed you had pushed yours back ) backwards wont fix it

so shall i undo that top mount mate, then adjust the dog bone, then pull that top mount so the mount is 2wards the front rather than the bk?

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
do the dog bone first, then the topmount >. pull the engine forward (towards the bumber)

follow that giude. remember the mounting for the dogbone needs like the top of it is leaning back and the bottom is pointing forward. it will only move 5mm

have a look at the front suspension under hard acceleration the front suspension is draged back and can hit the top of the chassie. also have a look at the exhaust manifold in first gear accelerting hard the manifold can tape down against the sub frame
