Done my mates saxo the other week and a few days before i put a decat on another saxo.

The decat one definately sounded slightly better.

Id go to a garage and get them to fit a removable cat if its possible. Just have to bolt the new cat on come MOT time.

I went to the garage, I can remove it myself but I just needed to get some bolts loosened. I explained what I was going to do and he said it sounds proper tinny rather than raspy like a decat.

If you got two cats then why not? Saves you from buying a decat, and if the old bill inspect your car they're none the wiser

I have a De-cat smashed, but its not fitted to the car anymore, it did feel better made the exhaust more noisier tho.

The 1 connecting to the smashed cat i have has a flexi hose, which i just now only to reduce the bore size on the end ov the decat so it fits my 1.2 centre pipe again as it had a 172 centre section before, which made 1 hell of a poppin

only way to find out is to do it mate but im sure you will like it. i was worried at the start that it would sound crap but as soon as i got it fitted and took it for a drive i loved it and so its been on for the last 4months

Did you just hammer the insides out and let it all fall out of the bottom, then refit it? Or do anything else to it? Small step-by-step or a video would be very appreciated

yup but i took my time doing it. made sure i got everything out and pressure washed it to get all the debris out. you will be surprised at teh amount of stuff thats in the cat. i used a solid metal bar and a hammer to get it out. just put it at the straight end and hammer it. it will start to brake off then just shake it out the bottom and the stuff should fall through. just make sure you get the bits around the edges which requires a bit of manipulation to get to. the other option is to cut it in half then take the cat out then reweld.

I might pressure wash it then like you did. It definitely doesn't sound all tinny then? Is it easy to fit too, ie. just put the new gasket on and screw the bolts back into place?
