i have gone to fix up my eyebolts in the car, doesn't look like the rears are an issue, but i have found that the threads on the sills are too small to take the eyebolts.

i don't want to know the ins and outs of where to mount the rears....thanks

seems weird as are ok on most cars but have been told eyebolts only come in 1 thread size.

what has anybody else done with this problem? pics would be great

Have seen them mounted to side and centre rear seatbelt mounts before... surely you can get other sized eyebolts??

don't mean to be ungrateful guys but as stated in my first post i have sorted the rear mounts, its the mount on the sill i need to sort.

and as far as i know, no you can't get a different sized thread eyebolt, different lengths but not different thread sizes

what steve said mate, or you get fixing points to the seat subframes like mine, the other one is to the hook that's under the seat as we didn't drill through the car.

not sure how clear these will make it?

its nice to know its been done without drilling chris.

i can see that you have mounted one underneath the seat in the second picture but can't work out where about's that bolt is going through...

initially i couldn't work that first picture out at all, but now i can, i take it thats looking down between the seats? and that is just a bag or something in the rear ? lol

i do have a mounting point on my sidemounts on the inner side, it is literally just the sill side i have to worry about

lol sorry, not too clear am i!

the first pic is from above the handbrake between both seats. the subframes have a mounting point which is handy.

in the second pic, its looking from the footwell under the seat. directly under the seat there is a black hook like found in the boot so just used the harness hook into it. we decided to use that as i didn't have any plates.

is that ok? if you need more pics then give me a shout

i know for a fact there is no hooks under my seats because i have no seats in the car at present and haven't had for a fair old while, i have been in and out of it working and have not once spotted any hooks

why are hooks under the seat anyways......lol????

  My trusty lil 182 :)
I'm sure that hook under the seat is not a safe place to mount the harness. AFAIK they must be mounted to a 7/16 or 11mm 8.8 strength (or better) bolt or eyebolt and mounted through a structural and reinforced part of the chassis. I think you can reduce the bolt size to 8m if you increase the tensile strength to 10.9 or 12.9. That one for the cargo net I would expect to just rip out in the event of an accident.

cheers for the pm kev, replied mate

as stated in my pm to kev i have now realised why the bolt whole i am trying to use won't fit, the bolt hole i am trying to use is infact the hole for the bolt that holds in the end of the rail that normally holds the standard belt.

the bolt hole i would need is the one that normally holds the belt mechanism, which infact is situated behind the trim at the bottom of the b pillar as renault boy clearly stated. sorry if this was obvious but its only recently become apparent to me.

so it looks like the only options are

1) to remove the majority of the rear trim and mount there,
2) to cut the trim and then mount there
3) to keep trim and look at mounting some other way

yah the hook is there mate. i know it's probably not the best place for a harness fixing but i had no other way. and tbh that's not the most important fixing (*awaits slating*).

one day when i get round to it i have loads to sort on the car. i still have the original belts in, lol.
