FAO people with cams/inlets/remap

  Mk4 .:R32
I'm in 2 minds whether to get the work done. Try to convince me to get it Cams, matched inlets and remap ;) I know I won't notice a MASSIVE improvement as with the mods I already have I will only see around 20-25 bhp difference on a RR. But I want to improve the power deliver to get traction in 1st and 2nd and some more mid range poke.

also tempted to get a 182 manifold and sports cat at the same time!

Experienced opinions are welcome

cams, inlets and remap are all good, not sure about the 182 manifold, but would have thought thats a good mod to have as well... as for the sports cat, dont bother, they suck.

I know the people that have had the GDI cam/inlet package have been very happy with it. Recommended

Yeah I would go to GDI again, a trek from here but they were good with my exhaust, top notch. Price is good as well, think its about 1500 or something around that!!

what bhp have people got who have used cams, inlets and remap on a 172? Want it around 200 to be honest!! Or is originaly statement correct?

1) whats mods do you have ?
2) whats the budget

iirc tho 172 manifold (4-1) = good for torque, 182 (4-2-1) good for bhp and the 172 cat is quite restrictive so worth doing somehting with (possible a decat ?)

currently only have a bmc cda with a CAF and a s/s exhaust. I want a decat but I can imagine it will be reeeaaallly loud and I use the motorway 90% of the time so it would be a pain!!

Budget...well was just going to save around 1500-2000 and get it done jan/feb time next year!

nope, stock are 2.25", the Powerflow (or Powerslow) on mine was a 2" system, but the GDI one I have is 2.5". Made a huge difference!

can only comment on the 182 manifold , sports cat inlets matched and custom remap .

going to give about 15-20 bhp , alot more torque lower down and does increase mid range .

you will lose top end power with the 182 manifold though , but the power delivery is alot smoother , you dont get a 5k kick anymore just power all the way to 7k , the raised rev limiter does help too .

costs around 1k for these mods , can be cheaper if find the manifold and cat

  Cup Turbo, Flamer
I've had all the above work done including the 182 manifold, 204hp torque figure unknown (old RR).

I seem to get a 2 stage kick after my cams were fitted. Around 4.5k then all hell brakes loose about 6.5k, any explanations?!?!

So in that sense power delivery isn't smoother than before, low down is, higher up isn't.

Driving around town has improved sooo much, the extra torque low down helps and i can easilt poodle around in 4th gear without any problems!

Must stress my car is totally stripped apart from dash, so that makes a huge difference in the way the car drives as well
