Check your Anytime when you get home.

Zulu is on it now in HD and the quality is absolutely amazing.

Ah I saw Zulu on one of the HD Movie channels last night and was very impressed with the quality. Some of the panoramic scenes were absolutely stunning. I think that was the first time I have really been impressed with something I have seen on there. Looked like it was filmed yesterday.

the manual says its for HD equiptment, but shows a vga to dvi socket into a hdmi cable, not sure why the vga is needed..... presume they didn't just intend it for pc use....

i'll get the cable, if it doesn't work then the panasonic tx-37lzd70 looks a good bet.

it wasn't filmed in hd so how does it matter if it's trasmitted in hd or not - the quality is only as good as the camera used to film it, surely?

:banghead:

It was filmed on 35mm film which offers* a resolution up to 3 times greater than Full HD offers today.

* - Dependant upon camera and lenses used.

Feel free to go onto AVforums and quote your "it wasn't filmed in HD..." line and see what kind of response you get.. Take your tin hat with you.

it was a question not a statement..... thanks for clearing it up though ;)

So the reason our transmissions for the past 40 years have been shite is our receiving equiptment hasn't been up to the task, not the camera equiptment... is that correct?

Not really. 35mm was/is great for films and the cinema but trying to film Coronation street using Panavision and film wasn't very practical so they used "video" camera's. It's only recently with development of these camera's, recording media, transmission bandwidth and the decline of CRT in favour of "HD" displays that's led to the improvement of "transmissions".
