A well built VW
Standard HU
OK i have used some nails as removal pins just find ones of similar size to the holes , push them and you will feel them working
Gently work the HU out of the slot - i find a small screwdriver and working round the HU it comes out real easy
Out she comes
These are the connectors at the back of the HU you need to push the clips in and then you can pull out the connectors easily
All the wires disconnected
Pull the connectors through the fitting cage and push back the cage
Once in place push down the tabs to hold it in place
This is the plug from the back of the HU
Simply push the right connector into the right slot- they have a different amount of pins
Feed the wires behind the dash - need to make sure as little as possible is behind the HU as it will be harder to get HU in place
On mine it has a small plastic surround that needed clipping into place
The final result - and only took 15 minutes and that included the photo's
