Favourite and worst upgrades??

Best - Brembo 4 pots, stopping power is awesome

Worse - well not the part or the result but fitting the inner power flex bushes to the front antiroll bar was so hard

Also worse that wasn't technically a mod was getting the cambelt changed for piece of mind when I brought the car. First time I used it it dropped a valve :confounded:
Who carried out the belt change?

Worst: buying a toyosport exhaust that was miles off fitting well
Best: finding almost un-used standard 182 backboxes for 50 quid.

Do engine mounts suit certain cars? I'm only beginning to learn about this stuff so haven't got much that much knowledge as to their benefits. So for example as my Clio is a Mk4 with semi-auto gear box as opposed to a manual. Or are they better regardless?

Also, glad you mentioned poor bucket seats. I'm in the market now myself for a good set. Looking at Corbeau RRB or RRs as the cheaper option, but then really want to go Recaro Sportster CS or Sparco R600. Anyone any experience with these or thoughts?

I’m looking at rrs/rrb’s as well. Mate has them in s15 and done and 2000 mile trip to the ring and round europe and said he was comfortable in them, great seat for the money

A mechanic I have used for years (and still use!) Next time I will go to one of the specialists. Failed at rule No 1 of owning a Clio - Always use a specialist to change the cambelt properley!

Favourite aesthetic mod? 20mm Eibach spacers all round, even without a drop I think they'd make a big difference.
Favourite performance mod? I don't have anything expensive done, but I'd pick my Sprint Booster every time!

Worst mod; since I haven't even fitted it and don't really intend to, K-tec induction kit, will probably sell it on tbh.

I think steering wheels would be my number one.

Made the interior look a lot nicer and also feels great.

Surprised at the love for "firm" engine mounts. I have one on the Cup (previous owner) and it's abysmal. The vibration in the cabin is horrible. Leading me to my best & worst:

Best: Premium tyres (for want of a better phrase), sounds obvious but it makes such a difference.
Worst: "Race" parts on a road car. OEM stuff is soft for a reason. They knew what they were doing. Do you need to save that 0.008mm of play on the road? No. Stop it.

There's a big difference between cheap poly engine mounts and decent stuff like Vibratechnics.

I agree with you on excessively stiff stuff on the road, IMO there's a HUGE market for aftermerket stiffer rubber bushes.
You get a few here and there, but not the choice like Powerflex.
