FDSH with a (cheap) Twist

Serviced the b**ch today. (then got up and worked on the car!)
172 cup, only its second service. I got it at 14K and it had been serviced a few months before at 11500 by the dealer where it was bought from RENAULT RETAIL, WATFORD.
Any way coming up to 20k so i decided to get it done before it gets frosty. Not been one to waste my hard earned i did the job, (and always have done) myself. Bought the bits filters etc from Renault reasonably priced, i think the air filter was about £14.
Guess what i found in the air box from the last sevice ? FRAM !
Now i know that they are probl'y made out of the same stuff, maybe even in the same factory but please does that take the piss or what ? God knows what brand/type of oil it had in it...
Remember all you are paying for is the stamp in the book......

They make lots of filters and supply genuine ones to renault.

Fram is a automotive parts manufacturer. like the bits you get from your local motor factors. Cheap, generally ok but not OEM (original manufacturer equipment)
Defo not what the reault dealer should be fitting. They make allsorts of bits for all makes and models (£8.50 from my local) Not what you should get with a £200 service...

If thats right (and they do supply OEM) i stand corrected. My new Renault filter has renault and some french s**t printed on it. If thats the case then i ve just paid the extra cash for the box and the renault stamp. So they still got me, t**t! - It is a nice box though !
I'll look at the fram site when my dialup eventually loads it up.....

I took the air filter out of a Williams yesterday and it was made by FRAM and had the renault part number on the side.

Always fancied one of them, couldnt get away with the interior though.
Used to be a 205/309 man till i got this cup. Whats it geared like ? this clios frantic like an old pug 1600 box. excellent around town though...S
