Ferodo DS2000 pads what do people think?

Hello I have a Clio 182 and am thinking of changing the front pads to DS2000 pads what do people think? Do they fit straight on or do you have to tinker with them a little and are they a good road pad? Any advice would be great

Ds2500s you have to file down to fit. Can't complain about road use

It's just I have mintex m1144 at the moment and they stated great quit squeele but good breaks, then they stated to get a constant squeele so I bought some pads you put on the back and that made them worse and I have took the pads off and they still squeeling and they don't stop as well As they used to and there just pissing me off now, but I don't want to spend more money on pads I am gonna have problems with if you no what I mean!! So just wanted to find out more about them really

Personally, m1144's melt too easily.

IMO there are iffy compounds out of the M1144. Previously they used to last but they seem to vanish at the moment!

In your opinion what would you go with over the DS2500s? I understand that the DS3000s are a little too unforgiving in the cold (i.e they do not really work) for road use.

CL RC6 are an excellent upgrade over standard or RC8 for full hero spec and if you can stand the noise!

DS2500 would also be ok for road use but do have a slight squeal when braking slow speeds with light pedal pressure..

Rc6/rc8 i would only be getting for track use as they will ruin your wheels and the noise from them will do your head in, track tyres will only get the most out of these anyway due to the hight mu rating

I went with Bosch pads on mine when I changed the brakes up front and I have to say that it does stop very well indeed. The pedal was towards the floor at Cadwell on the day but then again I was really pushing the car for a period of time, even with the rain! The brake fluid could probably do with changing as well!

How are RC6s on brake dust compared to say OE pads and M1144s? It was one reason why I went stock.

Yep.

They are good pads. Decent bite from cold, progressive, fairly low dust. But not much better than standard.

I actually think cold bite on the ds2500 were poor. Running ds1.11 now and cold bite feels better

DS2500's were naff on my Clio, DS3000's were bloody brilliant. Bedding in a night time sparks were going everywhere!

But unless you are going on track, get the Brembo OEM pads, for occasional trackdays i'd just switch the pads before the day.

I drive it priory hard on the road and the m1144 just go hard on the pedal and do nothing after a few high speed breaks in a row really, if I went oem would the so the same? I have Brebo dics fitted as well and j upgraded the break fluid.

Why high speed braking in a row on a road?.... Stick to oem pads make sure your calipers aren't sticking aswell

I live on country roads so have good straights and some very tight corners, I have recently changes the pistons on my callipers because I fort they were sticking as I had a constant squeal coming from the passenger side break but I think its just them pads are s**t, would oem pads still be sharp with the brembo discs, because when I first changed to the m1144 pads they were great then they just went to s**t, and I am also thinking of doing the odd track day at some point.

If your pedal was going to the floor then you probably boiled your brake fluid mate, the rc6 are terrible for dust, they also leave tiny bits of metal on your wheels and up the side of the car, they are exellent for track though and work perfectly well on the road as they have a strong bite even on the coldest days, there just overkill on the road and a waste of money.. they are good in the way that they dont transfer the pad material to the disc as there a sintered metallic compound so ideal for swapping over from standard pads when you do a trackday as they dont really need bedding in... ive not tried DS2500 in the clio but they were really good in my old zetec however it was lighter and lower powered.....

Everyone seems to have their own preferences and opinions on pads and while one person will be quite happy running £130+ pads that squeal like mad on the road, another person will recommend oe brembos for trackdays..

Thanks for your advice Mate, and the pedal doesn't go the floor it just goes hard and if I press as hard as I can it doesn't Make any difference to make it stop, I think its the pads getting really hot, are the ds2500 nown for squeeling badly does anyone know?

Pads getting too hot like you said then, in my experience of the ds2500 they only squeal with light pedal pressure at slow speeds and are not too dusty, i was doing 20min sessions at cadwell with them in my fiesta and didnt get any fade (130bhp about 900kg)

That I figured . I've not changed the fluid since I have bought the car, although I do have some Ford Super DOT 4 to try out...

Hmmmm, I have a track set of wheels now so I may be tempted to try the CLs. Bar the noise they seem to be just the ticket! I used to own a Triumpg Stag and a Porsche 944 with Brembos (type Brembo Plate Lift into Google ), and they used to squeal terribly!
