FFS just bought a bottle jack and it won't fit under the car

Wanted to get one to carry round as the Renault scissor jack is about as useful as an inflatable dartboard, bought one from amazon and now when I tried it, it doesnt fit under the fcking car

Does anyone carry a jack round incase of having to change a wheel, whats the best one to go for?

the scissor jacks are funny. although mine almost doesnt fit under the car anymore... have literally a couple of mm to spare

I bought an ultra low race trolley jack for when I had my Elise and lowered VX - it just about gets under my slammed 172. Look on Machine mart.

Sami all you need to do is carry a piece of wood in your boot, just long enough to fit under a weel. Place it in front of a wheel on the side you want jacking up, and drive the car up onto the wood, and you'll then be able to get the jack under.

I have to do this with mine, as it has been lowered.

Don't forget to put the wood back under the wheel before you try and take the jack out though

If you don't want to be carrying a piece of wood around, just use the renault jack, drive onto that instead!

i have to use 2 1.5" pieces of wood! ma clio is slammed on 15's wi 45's tho.

I use my scissors jack to lift it a little on the sills then slide the trolley jack under.

Sorry but I had to laugh when I saw the thread title.

I would use the wood/block method though to get some more room under there

Ive chucked my renault jack away... dont see the point of it as i have no spare wheel, and its pretty bent.

In its place is an emergency bag containing jump leads, 2 first aid kits, towing eye and a fancy lantern thing that strobes, plus torch and gloves. Just a bit more useful i think.

My trolley jack has only a few mm clearance. Best thing is to have a bit of wood as mentioned.

the alloy one i bought too, 90 odd quid, very good with the rubber craddle mount

You can't use tyre foam unless you jack it up.

I hav'nt. Not too sure how it works tbh. I'd probably end up relying on Europ Assistance (or whatever its called)

Years ago when we were rallying,we used to carry an airbag that slide under the car and went over the exhaust and bingo,very quick and light.Dont where you would get one know though

I have once used the foam and might have sealed the hole but my tyre was completely flat still..... i used the jack for that and tbh it was no good.

Thats what my AA membership is for. lol
