Just purchased one of these

http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(16579)INNO3D-GeForce-8800-GTS-320MB-DDR3-PCIE-HDTV.aspx

Arrived today so tonight i have installed it. Switched the pc on, all seemed ok, loaded windows, all ok. Installed software, rebooted the pc, now all it goes to the windows is loading screen where the progress bar is moving, gets past that point and than nothing. Blank screen. The only way o can get this card to work is either not to install it or run the pc in safe mode.

Haven't got a clue what to do so has anybody got any ideas before i have a major paddy?

uninstall the driver in safe mode then retry? or check the manufacturer's website for a newer/different versioned driver?

Been there done that. Only thing that i have learned within the last 10mins is.

1st. If i let windows install the driver it comes up with a error at the end saying access denied which is stored in the graphics card tap under systems.

2nd. Downloaded drivers from website and when it's complete it says " Installion not complete"

3rd. If i use the cd, during installation it flickers the screen for a few secs which is normal than it goes blank.

Have you got onboard graphics to start with?

If so have you disabled it in the BIOS?

ps.. You still interested in that K750i mobile Ant?

The access denied bit sounds a bit weird. I take it that you've got full admin rights over your PC? You haven't got any restricted accounts on there, have you?

Did you use the CD for software installation? I never, ever use the CD within the packaging - unless its for something very specific. By the time the card lands in your mitts, it's several versions out of date.

Here's the latest for the 8800 series:-

..... assuming your using XP 32-bit?

What card was you using before? Make/model?

I'd put your original card back in then boot into XP

Update latest BIOS and motherbaord chipset drivers if there not upto date

Download latest graphics drivers

Install Drivercleaner and remove all your old graphics card drivers

Then run regclean and regcleaner

Shutdown

Install new card, boot into XP cancel at all prompts for drivers and then install latest downloaded drivers then install latest DirectX9 february update too

Has anbody got a pic of a 6 pin power cable running from the psu which powers the graphics card?

The reason i ask is that i have connected 2 standard power supplys to the graphics card addaptor that you would use for a hard disc/cd rom.

Is this the correct connectors or are there a special express power cable which a psu comes with?

yep, i've built my new system today and it has 2 x seperate 6 pin PCI-E power connections from the PSU going into it.

the graphics card has two of these on it :

and the cable connections look like this :

i'd imagine your supposed to connect the molex (white connections) to your PSU and then the black 6 pin connector into the graphics card.

Hmmm

that's what i have been using. Trying to think if it's worth buying another psu to be sure.

random thought but you never mentioned anywhere that you uninstalled your old graphics card drivers.

THe 8800 series is picky with what drivers it uses and having old ones still present will prevent new/different ones being installed.

Also check you bios to make sure the defualt graphics is PCI-E

Yeah done all the above. When i install the new drivers it gets to the bit where it flickers the screen off and on 3 times. 3rd time it stays off. After a reboot it's fine upto it goes past the part with the windows loading progress bar than goes blank. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
