File Formats supported by Samsung TV on USB

Hi, I want to put some films I have on my PC onto a USB and watch them on my Samsung TV.

Now Certain files work (but I Cannot rewind or Fast Forward) and others simply are not supported?

What should I be using for this?

I had a similar problem with this last week, but with a different TV - Haier.
A widely used video format such as MP4 or AVI should work.

It will be in the handbook that came with the TV though.
