Good times. Every person I have let near this car has done a sub standard job and I'm paying top money. Been a real s**t day tbh.

In future, i'm only going to get my wheels acid dipped, bead blasted and powder coated in primer grey. Then i'm going to wet flat them and paint them the OEM colour inside and out myself.

I've had god knows how many sets of wheels refurbed, in pretty much every form possible and to date I have never been 100% satisfied with the finish. The only finish I have been happy with is when i've done the above (we have our own spray booth) but in man hours and costs, it adds up to £500+ for a set of 4 wheels so it's not possible every time sadly.

Don't really know what to do lads.

The ONLY way to do wheels properly is to hand paint the colour. Powder colour coating wheels does not work!

Powder coat the primer and hand finish colour and lacquer or powder coat lacquer.

Think of it this way... you cannot mix different coloured powdercoats. You buy them that colour.

Find a proper place.

Ouch. Post them to Lepsons. They offer free collection and they'll be better than factory.

Where is the place that did them? Could you get a member of this lovely forum to drop off the offending wheel and collect it again so it's ready for your return?

I had mine done by the WheelSpecialist as well as they came highly recommended and I wasn't impressed either. On the whole they were fine, but for the money the finish was far less than perfect, when I pointed an area out on mine similar to yours when picking the car up they just fobbed me off. Funny that all of their 'demo / show' wheels on display ARE perfect.

They are going to redo foc in oct. Can't really ask much more than that.
Fair play, but imo they should also offer you some petrol money or something as the job is sub standard :(

Please let me know how you get on Scott. I wanna get mine done mate.

Eek sorry to hear about the finish, that is piss poor considering they'd already redone it - certainly hearing a lot more mixed reviews from them now-a-days, wasn't there someone else on here who had problems with them when he took them to Russ@MidlandCarCare (he passes them through to them).

  Mint 1*2's for sale-
cool-

when you get the car back ask to go over the car on your own in your own time so you can carefully take your time, if a member of staff is standing over you you will tend to rush-

best regards

Sorry to see the runaround you have had with traders. It is slowly returning to it's previous glory, so top work that man!

I've moved this into the projects section, as it seems to have developed to a project thread and not just media :)

Doesn't end there, flat tyre this morning, they re balanced the wheels, steering wheel was still shaking badly, and the boss has to authorise the wheel refurb.

my local balanced the wheels and they where way out......

Well here is a s**tty pic of any car after the wheels have been refurbed. Just got back in after a frustrating few hrs. Arrived to pick up car at 5pm to be told one of the alloys needed to be redone due to bubbles in the paint. 3hrs later I set off home. On the way back my car drove like a piece of s**t due to them not balancing the wheels correctly. f**ked off is a understatement.

All they do is refurb and balance wheels, this is the 3rd they have done this to me. Really pissed off.

They are going to have I pay my local fitter as I am not doing another 100 mile round trip to sort.

Anyhow pic.

I share your pain m8. I had mine powder coated and far from it driving 's**t' - I do get a slight wobble coming through the steering column when I get north of 60mph. More irritating than anything and I've got mine booked in this Friday for rebalancing.

The silver side-pods are really only a plus point on a black Vee, imo. Any other colour that the Vee comes in (the lighter shades - acid and liquid in particular) - the silver pods look 'washed out' and weak in appearance to me.

As for the original fitment of the rear tailplane from a 747 on the bootlid - it was almost there. If they had reined it in by 10%, it would have worked. As it was, it just appeared a little too OTT.

You'll get there in the end. All these niggles will be ironed out and you'll be on a decent road one day with the biggest grin on your face. Patience is required just that bit longer. :)

I'm finding it really hard to to slate them, the guy working on my was genuinely trying hard, you could see the pressure in his eyes.

Im just grateful I have a great tyre fitter down the road who I can trust.

That problem is now solved, now I have to wait or get the alloys sorted. Sometime in October.

They did my bbs pescaras on my golf gti edition 30 an fookin ruined them. They shot blasted the wheels then powdercoated them an you could see all the dents the shot blasting had left. I refused to pay an had them redone at A1 wheels Wolverhampton. There not the cheapest but they wet spray an finish is always bang on. Pisses me off that you can't trust people to do a decent job.

Darren, They need balancing :3 mine use to do that... When they were out of balance.. Also getting the tracking checked is another gain.

I dropped my set of 5 F1s off to John yesterday mate.

Had a look at some of Johns work before i gave him my wheels, looks amazing mate and you know how fussy i am.

Got to wait about 2 weeks though as he is a one man band and is snowed under with work, i don't mind waiting as long as the work is 100% right which im sure it will be.

Even the back of the wheels i saw where faultless so im going to be sealing mine up with Gtechniq C5

OT, glad you are getting them sorted Ant FOC.

Ant, that is a vast improvement!!

Scott, cheers I reckon I'll have to come & have a look when you get it back.
